La-Z-Boy UK has strengthened its commitment to community around its latest factory, by becoming a Business Club Plus member at Burnley Football Club.
The furniture manufacturer recently purchased Furnico Furniture, based in Lancashire, England, where it produces chairs and sofas. The company was keen to find a way to strengthen links with the local area and it is hoped the deal with Premier League Burnley will help La-Z-Boy firmly establish its presence.
The president of La-Z-Boy International Keith Wilson visited Turf Moor stadium to meet the team including owner Alan Pace and see the infrastructure in place. The company is also sponsoring two players at Colne Cricket Club and is looking for more ways it can support clubs and initiatives in the area.
Mr Wilson said: “Since we bought our manufacturing facility in Lancashire, we’ve been keen to become an active part of the local community and give something back to the area. We are proud to sponsor Burnley FC and we hope it will help people recognise us as a major local employer and encourage them to apply for opportunities to work with us in manufacturing our world-famous recliners, chairs and sofas.”
Alan Pace, the US businessman who took over the Clarets in December 2020, said he welcomed La-Z-Boy as the latest Business Club Plus members.
“It was fantastic to meet the La-Z-Boy directors at Turf Moor recently to welcome them to the Clarets family.
“It’s great to see the company investing in Lancashire, producing locally and becoming ingrained in the local community. These are qualities that are important to us here at the football club.
“We’re pleased to have La-Z-Boy onboard as Business Club Plus members and I look forward to enjoying a successful partnership together.”
Mid-tier La-Z-Boy branding will be at all Burnley’s home matches as well as on the concourse and external stadium screen, set to launch at the next home game, against Watford on 5 February.
La-Z-Boy, now a member of Made In Britain, purchased Furnico Furniture in October, which had previously manufactured for the world-famous recliner brand under licence. The purchase means La-Z-Boy now has manufacturing capability in Europe and can expand the number of collections it makes in the UK.
