About

Supporting La-Z-Boy around the world.

A Proud History

The La-Z-Boy brand is known throughout the world for comfort, quality and North American style. Known as the creators of the world’s first recliner, La-Z-Boy has a strong history in the United States dating back to 1927 and now its furniture is found in homes all over the globe.

La-Z-Boy International looks after the brand outside its North America home. La-Z-Boy now sells in more than 60 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and beyond.

When customers think of La-Z-Boy, the brand’s iconic recliner is usually the first thing which comes to mind. But the range has expanded to include a whole range of power and manual motion furniture alongside static options.

Future Focussed

In addition to the internationally-recognised recliner, the collections now include sofas, corner suites, static chairs and pedestal chairs. With all our pieces, the focus is on helping our customers turn their homes into a comfortable haven where they can relax and switch off from the stresses of everyday life.

La-Z-Boy was originally created by two American cousins – Edward M Knabusch and Edwin J Shoemaker, who invented the first recliner in 1928. The pair wanted to create a porch chair which followed the contour of a person’s body and would be comfortable for both sitting up and leaning back.

Using orange crates to come up with a prototype, the cousins invented the reclining mechanism that would sweep the world off its feet.

La-Z-Boy’s international headquarters remain in the United States in Monroe, Michigan. And La-Z-Boy International has the task of introducing La-Z-Boy’s unique blend of style and comfort to even more customers in every part of the world.
