Two brothers flew to the United States to enjoy watching the Super Bowl after winning a La-Z-Boy UK competition.
Brian Bourke, from Silsden, West Yorkshire, UK, won a trip to New Orleans to watch Super Bowl LIX after entering the online competition, advertised through social media and the La-Z-Boy mailing list. He chose to take his brother Eugene with him and the pair enjoyed a three-night stay in the city, which is known around the world for its Mardi Gras celebrations, vibrant nightlife and famous jazz scene.
The brothers then got a great view of the action at Caesars Superdome, watching the National Football Conference (NFC) champion, Philadelphia Eagles go head-to-head with the American Football Conference (AFC) champion, Kansas City Chiefs. After watching rapper Kendrick Lamar’s half-time show, they saw the Eagles beat the Chiefs 40-22 to be named the Super Bowl winner for 2025.
Brian said: “The whole trip was absolutely amazing – we had a fabulous time, something we will never forget. When we started watching American Football on Channel 4 in the early/mid-eighties with the likes of the Raiders and the Bears, who would have imagined that we would ever get to actually go to the Super Bowl?
“I was working in Charlotte, NC, in 2024 when the Carolina Panthers were in Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco and thought watching it in a bar in Charlotte, NC would be as close as I would ever get… who knew!”
He said the atmosphere in New Orleans during their trip was electric and their seats straight behind the Kansas City end of the field had given them a fantastic view of the action.
Brian added: “All in all a big thank you to all at La-Z-Boy for this once in a lifetime prize and for making sure it all was organised excellently.”
